I write and sing soulful songs. What listeners come back to is the voice — resonant, evocative, expressive.

My songs are introspective folk, drawn from personal experience but reaching for what's shared — solace, longing, the work of paying attention. I want melodies that haunt and lyrics that ask something of the listener.

The path to my work has been long and winding. I started writing songs in 1988 with my brother Chris in a converted pony barn — a project we called Tungsten. Pure hillbilly punk. Through high school and college I played in a series of bands across West Virginia, eventually landing as the bassist for hip hop group 2nd Naycha, touring the East Coast and recording in Philadelphia with Grammy-nominated producer David Ivory.

After moving to Minneapolis, I spent years writing privately — songs accumulating in notebooks and home recordings. I've now stepped forward as a solo singer and songwriter.

The songs are reflective and unhurried. They draw from the hills I grew up in, the suffering and grace I've witnessed, and a worldview closer to Siddhartha than to any contemporary trend. I perform regularly around the Twin Cities — mostly in rooms small enough to hear the silence between songs.
